The SAFECARE (SAFEguard of CriticAl health infrastructuRE) project, funded by the European Comission’s H2020 programme, is holding an awareness event in Leuven on the 18th September, that will bring together security practitioners, healthcare stakeholders, policy experts and media to present the initial results of the project and discuss

The Awareness Event will be held at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, who are one of the partners of the project, and will be an opportunity to discuss the technical aspects of the project and the underlying technologies, with a view to furthering the exploitation and uptake of the project.

Also present will be representatives of other European projects in the security field who will also present their work and contribute their knowledge to the discussions. The event will be chaired by Olivier Theveneau, from the Assistance Publique – Hôpitaux de Marseille and coordinator of the project.

Background

The SAFECARE project is researching a new form of security system for healthcare infrastructure that integrates both cyber and physical security into an overarching security infrastructure. Involving twenty-one partner organisations from 10 different countries, SAFECARE will be trialling a new, integrated security system at three European hospitals, after the development of the system has finished.

Beginning in September 2017, the project is funded by the European Union’s H2020 programme and will run until 2021.
